We will be going to some of the most traditional and time-tested shops, food-joints and restaurants around for a taste of local tapas (mixing meat and seafood), wines (red and white), cheese, and various tasty sweets like “Bordallos”, “Lagartos” and “Cavacas”. You will also try some famous “Ginjinha” (sour cherry liqueur) from next door Óbidos.
Learn about the only open-air daily market in the country open every single day of the year – come hell or high water, where local products are sold by farmers and local merchants. You will have the chance to do some shopping yourself.
In the meantime, you will discover Caldas da Rainha, a UNESCO Creative City, with a long-standing and rich arts tradition. Rafael Bordallo Pinheiro, arguably the greatest Portuguese artist of the XIX century, founded in this city what would now be called a “ceramic arts startup”, producing objects that became no less than cultural and national icons- to this day.
